  63. This package contains the SmartCat 97 Package by Oakley Data Services.
  64. This document contains only a brief description of the package and its
  65. features, along with instructions for its installation.  Quite detailed
  66. documentation is included in the package inside a standard Windows Help
  67. File. It is more easily read after installation.

  69. SmartCat provides an easy way to centralize all those files that you
  70. hardly ever use, but are cluttering up your disk drives, and organize
  71. the piles of CD-Roms and floppy disks that have been collected from your
  72. favorite magazines.
  73.  
  74. To achieve this, SmartCat has three main functions:
  75.  
  76. Archive
  77.  
  78. The archive function enables you to select groups of files or folders
  79. and move these to a centralized archive pool of volumes (floppy disks,
  80. ZIP drives, JAZ drives, etc.) and if required, remove the original files
  81. and folders. Once files have been archived they may be quickly
  82. restored back from the archive volume or accessed directly from the
  83. archive, using SmartCat Explorer.

  85. Cataloguing
  86.  
  87. The catalogue function enables any disk or CD-Rom to be catalogued.
  88. Once a disk is catalogued any file it contains, including the contents of
  89. compressed files, can be quickly located and accessed using SmartCat
  90. Explorer.

  92. SmartCat Explorer
  93.  
  94. This is the main interface for SmartCat. The Explorer window works in
  95. the same way as Windows' Explorer, except that SmartCat is exploring
  96. archived files and catalogued disks. From this Explorer window, you can
  97. perform all SmartCat functions, including archiving files, cataloguing
  98. disks and organizing your archives and catalogues into subject grouped
  99. folders and sub-folders.

  101. This evaluation version of SmartCat 97 includes all features of the
  102. program.  You may use it for up to 30 days, without charge. If you like
  103. the program, and wish to continue its use after this evaluation period,
  104. YOU HAVE TO PAY TO PURCHASE A FULL COPY. Any fee you may have paid to
  105. others (disk vendors, dealers, etc.) to obtain this evaluation version
  106. was a fee for their copying and distribution services, rather than a
  107. payment for continued use of the program.
